Long Melford: 71 dwellings
Ashwell Construction was awarded the contract by Hopkins Homes in April 2018 to carry out the groundwork for 71 no. properties in Bull Lane Long Melford at a value of approx. £3.5 million. The works include Substructures, Drainage, 278 works, Private Drives. The project is currently live and running ahead of programme and within budget.
Cockfield: Lorry Yard and Lorry Wash Building
Works at Hewick’s Haulage commenced on March 2019 with a 25-week programme to completion. The works included removal of approx. 4000m3 of clean inert, construction of a steel-framed building, installation of the electrical, mechanical and fire systems. Approx. 3500 m2 of reinforced concrete slab, using a PAV 2 concrete and C385 mesh was installed and completed with a tamp finish. A new attenuation pond was excavated at the east end of the site including new drainage to take new and existing yards. Working in conjunction with the mechanical wash facility installer the contract was completed on 17th October 2019.
Ely: 199 dwellings
At an estimated value of around £8.5 million Orchards Green in Ely is the largest Hopkins site to date that Ashwell Construction are involved in. The site consisting of 199 plots incorporating the plot groundwork, adoptable roads, sewers and 278 works is on target for completion in 2022
We were selected to build Hinckley Substation on behalf of our long-term client Matrix Networks Ltd with a contract value of around £350,000. Construction works included an 11Kv switch house, a transformer bund, ring beams, several foundations together with the installation of weldmesh boundary fencing and an access road into the site.
Bury St Edmunds: Sybil Andrews
Barnes Construction awarded Ashwell the contract to provide the civil engineering, groundworks and utility packages for the construction of the academy serving the local community in Bury St Edmunds. Phase 2, a new teaching block, was completed in the summer of 2019 within budget and on programme despite potential issues that were mitigated with a collaborative and cost-effective approach from all parties. Phase 3 is due to commence in the autumn of 2019 and planning to mirror completion to time and budget, as in phase 2. Both Phases are valued near to £1.5 million.
Woolpit: Business Park
Following initial negotiation with Woolpit business parks, Ashwell Construction secured the infrastructure and groundwork for the construction of two commercial buildings including offices, storage and parking facilities. The value of this project was in the region of £550,000 and was completed in June 2019.
